HOTEL PAGGERIA MEDICEA
The Hotel Paggeria Medicea (4 star) was built at the same time as the Villa around 1596. The 'Paggeria,' (servants' quarters) was built originally to house the serfs and pages who worked for the Villa.
Today the Hotel houses 37 rooms with private facilities and all the modern conveniences including Satellite TV, fast internet cable connection and WIFI in the common areas of the Hotel. Each room at the Hotel has its' own unique character in layout and style, and each has been restored with respect to the original architecture retaining some of the original features, such as fireplaces, the old stone sinks (pieta serena), the sloping hammer beams and the terra-cotta floors.
The private facilities are either with bath tub or shower. Buffet breakfast is served each morning and consists of locally produced organic produce, meats, cheeses, breads and pastries, all of which may be enjoyed in the breakfast room or outside in the wonderful terraced garden overlooking the Tuscan Hills. Located above a gently sloping hill and surrounded by woods, olive trees and vines, Artimino is a relaxing place to appreciate the beauty of this stunning area. The climate throughout the year is particularly temperate so that in January 1596 Ferdinando I is quoted as saying "Today I was in Artimino and believe me Your Highness that I found there was spring". Other facilities at the Hotel include: swimming pool, tennis court, mountain billing, walking trails and children's play area.
